Community Gardens

Our community gardens are welcoming spaces to grow fresh food, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors. With programs for all ages, they bring people together while helping make Orillia greener.

Garden Plots

  • Plots are available each season for individuals, families, and groups. Applications open November 1 to February 15, with limited space and priority for returning gardeners.
  • Each 12’ x 4’ raised bed includes water, soil, compost access, and shared storage. Communal garden spaces are also open to all.
  • Gardeners are responsible for maintaining their plots, participating in bi-weekly clean-ups, and keeping spaces tidy. Plots left unattended for over 4 weeks without notice may be reassigned.

All Garden Plots for the 2026 season have been reserved.

Orillia is a Bee City

The City of Orillia is proud to be recognized as an official Bee City by Bee City Canada. To support this, all four of our community gardens include pollinator-friendly plants that provide healthy habitats for bees and other vital pollinators.

The City supports community gardens with soil, mulch, water, shared tools, staff maintenance, seasonal events, and ongoing support from a Community Garden Coordinator.

Garden Rules and Resources

  • The Community Gardens Policy must be followed at all times.
  • No chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides. Use insecticidal soap and compost instead.
  • Be respectful of neighbours when planting and tending plots.
  • Harvest only from your own plot or the shared space (unless given permission).
  • Keep paths clear and don’t leave tools or personal items out overnight.
  • Store personal tools in the shed or take them home.
  • Treat the garden with care and respect so it remains a safe, welcoming space for all.
